Vilamoura doubles in the U-14 and U-18 Club Nationals

For the third time in the Under-14 and Under-18 National Club Championship, Vilamoura Golf Club won in both age groups

For the third time in the Under-14 and Under-18 National Club Championship, the Vilamoura Golf Club did the full, that is, won in both age groups.

It had already happened in 2005 and 2006, it was repeated this year at Santo Estêvão Golfe, in Benavente.

Miramar was runner-up in both races.

In Under-18, with 11 clubs and 13 participating teams (which could be mixed), there was a test of great emotion, with the unknown as to the outcome remaining until the end.

Adding 671 (+14) strokes, Vilamoura won the title with the minimum advantage over the Blue and White teams of the Club de Golf de Miramar, who totaled 672 (+15).

The tiebreaker for the title of runner-up, made by the smallest sum of excluded results, was in favor of the “blues” from Miramar, with 239 (+20) compared to 248 (+29) for the “whites” of the same club.

The Championship was played in three rounds by strokes, with the three best results of each formation being determined daily.

Alexander Amey, João Maria Ivo de Carvalho, João Crasi Alves and Tiago Abrantes – these were the names that led Vilamoura to victory.

They had left for the last round in command with two shots ahead of Miramar Branco and four over Oporto. They finished with a score of 225 (+6) to retain first place.

Miramar Blue was the best team in the closing round and therefore with the lowest result of the whole week, 214 (-5), which allowed it to come from behind, from fourth place, to get the second final place. The runners-up are Ana da Costa Rodrigues, Tomás Araújo, Miguel Silveira, Bernardo Costa Pinheiro and Afonso da Costa Rodrigues.

Miramar White was third, Oporto fourth with 678 (+21) and Tavira fifth with 688 (+31).

Aroeira, champion in 2022, finished in sixth place, with 695 (+38).

In the unofficial individual classification, the first was Diogo Pinto Rocha (75-71-70), holder of the men's Federation Cup, with 216 (-3). This was followed by absolute national champion Inês Belchior (75-74-71), from CG Tavira, and Alexander Amey (75-70-75), from Vilamoura, both with 220 (+1).

There were three players with 222 (+3): Ana da Costa Rodrigues (77-74-71), from Miramar Azul; João Maria Ivo de Carvalho (76-72-74), from Vilamoura; and Konstantin Mikirtumov (74-78-70), from Estoril.

Dominating Vilamoura also wins in Under-14 At the Under-14 level, with six participating clubs, the dominance belonged to the Clube de Golfe de Vilamoura, which took over the command on the first day and then, day after day, increased its advantage over its main rival in Miramar, which defended the title.

Totaled 714 (+57) strokes, 23 less than Miramar.

The champions are Martim Pinto Johansen, Brooks Barker, Rodrigo Sousa Correia and Salvador Ivo de Carvalho.

Miramar totaled 737 (+80), having worked with Francisca Ferreira da Costa, Margarida Alves, João Alvim, Henrique Ferreira da Costa and Santiago Dias.

 

Oporto was third with 810 (+153), followed by Belas with 826 (+169), Citygolf with 835 (+178) and Estoril with 845 (+188). In unofficial individual terms, Vilamoura placed players in the top two and three in the top five: Brooks Barker (78-81-75) and Martim Pinto Johansen (78-78-78) finished at the top with 234 (+14); and Rodrigo Sousa Correia (81-84-81) was fifth with 246 (+27). Third was Guilherme Moreira (78-82-76), from Oporto, who was third with 236 (+17). João Alvim (82-80-78), from Miramar, was fourth with 240 (+21).
