04/27/2025 | National Championships
The Youth Golf Festival came to an end today on course no. 2 of the PGA Aroeira by Details, with the awarding of the National Youth Championship titles in the Under-14, Under-16 and Under-18 categories.
The decisive day of the tournament was exciting and had everything – there were those who renewed their title; who would be crowned National Champion again, but now in the higher echelon; whoever reached the title for the first time; and even those who won the title on the first occasion they competed in Portugal.
In the Under-14 Women's category, the new National Champion is Margarida Silva Pinto (Miramar), who completed the competition with 238 strokes (+22). The Runner-Up is Clara Trindade (Belas), who totaled 244 (+28).
Grace Gordon (Vilamoura) and Ruiqi Li (Estoril) achieved the second and third best aggregate scores, but did not receive the title of Runner-Up because they are not Portuguese citizens.
In the Under-14 Men's category, Santiago Dias (Miramar) maintained his advantage over Rodrigo Sousa Correia (Vilamoura), with the northerner becoming National Champion with an aggregate score of 229 strokes (+13), while the Algarvean is National Vice-Champion, with 233 (+17).
In the Women's Under-16 category, the biggest surprise was recorded, with Nicole Sardinha (Online Individual Registration) beating Amélia Gabin (Quinta do Lago) by two strokes, who was the current champion of the age group. Nicole is of Madeiran origin and lives in the Miami region, as her parents emigrated to the United States of America. It was his first participation in a competition held in Portugal.
In the Boys category of the same category, there was a big fight between Guilherme Grabner Moreira (Oporto) and Martim Pinto Johansen (Vilamoura), who alternated at the top of the classification. The athlete from Espinho ended up prevailing, with an aggregate score of 227 (+11), while the athlete from Algarve scored 231 (+15).
Inês Belchior (Comporta), current Absolute National Champion and already holder of the title in the age group, renewed her status as Under-18 National Champion, beating Matilde Leal Gouveia (Santo da Serra) by eight strokes, the new National Vice-Champion.
In the Boys' category, Luís António Silva (Oporto) was crowned National Champion – who last year had been champion in the Under-16 category –, beating his club partner Gabriel Sardo by three strokes.
