The championship took place at the Bom Sucesso golf course in Óbidos from September 13 to 16
Vilamoura won five of the last six editions of the Viscount Pereira Machado Cup.This year, however, Vilamoura finished second. The champion was Miramar Golf Club.
The Vilamoura team was formed by Vítor Lopes, Francisco Matos Coelho, Lucas Azinheiro, Jamie Mann, Miguel Ribeiro and Bruno Vicente. The team captain was Jorge Baptista and the coach was Joaquim Sequeira.
"Being the defending champions, we had high aspirations but the Miramar team was excellent. They were worthy champions and I would like to give them my sincere congratulations” Vilamoura captain Jorge Baptista told the Portuguese Golf Federation. “If Miramar represents Portugal at the European Club Championship with the same quality as it did in Bom Sucesso, it will certainly reach a position that will honour us all.”
The Miramar team composed by Daniel Rodrigues/Pedro Neves and João Maria Pontes/Pedro Silva defeated Vítor Lopes/Jamie Mann and Lucas Azinheiro/Francisco Matos Coelho by 2/1 and 1 up.
In the afternoon, Lucas Azinheiro and Bruno Vicente tied against Diogo Mealha and Pedro Neves. Vítor Lopes, Kiko Francisco Coelho and Jamie Mann lost their matches to members of the Miramar team.
It is worth noting that Vilamoura holds the record for titles in the Viscount Pereira Machado Cup with 17 victories.
